Wheelchair Access and LOLER Regulations
Minibus World, based in Stoke on Trent Staffordshire, is a leading UK provider of wheelchair accessible minibuses and lifting equipment that comply with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER).
The LOLER Regulations
The LOLER regulations aim to reduce risks and improve health and safety for people and companies who own, operate or have control over lifting equipment. This includes businesses and organisations whose employees use lifting equipment and all operations involving lifting equipment. Equipment used for lifting must also be fit for purpose, appropriate for the task, suitably marked and thoroughly examined.
What equipment is covered by the Regulations?
The Regulations cover a wide range of equipment including tail lifts for commercial and wheelchair use. This comprises any equipment used at work for lifting or lowering loads including a person or people.
Do the Regulations apply to me?
If you are an employer or self-employed person providing lifting equipment for use at work, or you have control of the use of lifting equipment, then the Regulations will apply to you.
What is a thorough examination?
A thorough examination is a systematic and detailed examination of the lift and all its associated equipment by a competent person to ensure all parts of the equipment are functioning. A competent person is someone who has sufficient technical and practical knowledge of the lift to be able to make an objective assessment. The competent person is legally required to send you a written and signed report of the thorough examination as soon as practicable.
LOLER Compliant Wheelchair Lifting Equipment
Minibus World supplies a range of wheelchair lifts that are fit for purpose in line with customer requirements and fully compliant with LOLER regulations. These are fitted to vans and minibuses by our trained engineers, suitable marked and undergo a thorough examination before being delivered to our customers.
We ensure that all staff that will be using the lifting equipment are shown how to operate the wheelchair lifts correctly and safely. Our overall objective is to provide wheelchair access and lifts that will ensure the safe transport of disabled passengers.
