Workshop Manager

Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Salary - Negotiable subject to skills, experience and successful completion of probation period
Full Time, Monday - Friday

Minibus World Ltd is a rapidly growing family-run business operating in the van conversion sector. We build minibuses, campervans, mobile classrooms and patient transport vehicles. Our customers include Schools, Charities, Local Authorities, Care Homes, Taxi Firms and Voluntary Organisations.

A Workshop Manager is now required to control and carry out the tasks listed below. This role would suit a candidate with logistics or operational experience in any industry, or who has workshop management or motor trade service department experience. Experience with Health & Safety at a management level would also be desirable although not essential.

Full job-specific training will be given - importance will also be given to the general skills and qualities required in the paragraph below:

Reporting to the Production Manager and the Managing Director, you will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and above all an ability to organise, prioritise and react under pressure and reorganise when things don't go to plan. The ideal candidate will also be personable, cooperative and flexible as well as direct, tenacious and efficient. You will have a positive, winning attitude and help support and get the best out of your staff. A good working knowledge of Microsoft and competent computer skills are also important.

Typical tasks might include:

  • Managing vehicle life cycle from purchase through to customer delivery including final Quality Control sign off prior to handover. Includes liaising with internal paintshop, mechanics, valet and external service providers to have an overview of estimated delivery times.
  • Problem solve and reprioritise throughout the day to ensure vehicles are prepared both as quickly as possible and to the highest possible standards.
  • Inform senior management and relevant colleagues as much in advance as possible of any problems that might negatively affect delivery dates in order to minimise customer disruption.
  • Planning and co-ordinating daily vehicle movements and daily staff duties.
  • Daily update of vehicle movements and progress to senior management team and relevant colleagues.
  • Staff training, direction, feedback and discipline
  • Analyse current procedures and activities to identify and present opportunities for improvement of the workshop. Drafting & amending procedures and systems.
  • Help to plan and carry out site maintenance.
  • Problem solving.
  • Ad hoc projects such as R&D, cost savings programmes, addressing damage issues
  • Supplier relations

Workshop and Site Assistant, Stoke-on-Trent, Excellent Opportunities for Advancement

Salary - £8.00 to £9 per hour depending on experience

Minibus World Ltd is a rapidly growing family-run 2nd stage motor-vehicle manufacturer converting vans to minibuses. Our customers include the Education, Care, Charity and Voluntary sectors.

We require a Workshop and Site Assistant who is dynamic, organised, has excellent planning and communication skills, as well as an attention to detail. You don't need experience but you do need to be hard working, cooperative, flexible, conscientious, tenacious and efficient and have transferable skills.

This role will support the Workshop Manager with day to day vehicle preparation and site duties and cover the role when he is on annual leave. Duties include scheduling of vehicle movements and vehicle preparation to a high standard. Full training will be given but this essentially means ensuring the vehicle is damage free, the correct specification ordered and spotlessly clean. You will also be required to take photographs of vehicles according to the training that will be given, along with being involved in site management and general site tidiness.

You must have experience of light commercial vehicle conversions / van conversions. Window and seat fitting an advantage but not essential. Other skills could include joinery and carpet trimming. You should have good hand to eye coordination, be good with hand tools, be a hard-working team player and have a positive can do attitude. Excellent work ethic essential.

Paint Shop Panel Beater/Sprayer

Due to continued expansion we now require a Panel Beater/Sprayer to join our Paint Shop team.

As a Panel Beater/Sprayer you will have the ability to repair panels and trims, spray and finish vehicles in an efficient manner to a high standard. In this role you will have an understanding of the general principals of spray painting and paint mixing techniques. You will be required prepare vehicles fully before painting which will include masking, sanding and other necessary preparation work.

You should be a hard working team player with a can do attitude, good time keeping, organisation and planning skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
